Saturday was beautiful, almost hitting 50. Today is cold, with snow. I feel like I may have wasted my time. At least it was clean for a couple days. I'm quickly learning that black is not the most user friendly color. Pics courtesy of my potato S4.

Black is a hard color to paint and maintain. It shows every imperfection in prep and any contaminants that get in the paint, and dirt on top shows up very quickly... yet most of my cars are black. For the extra work they are, I still think everything should be offered in a black on black option.

Sounds like you're in New England! Same for me; washed my black car Saturday and it was dirty by Sunday. I haven't waxed yet, I'm going to wait for a few rain storms to wash away the salt still on the roads. My car needs it badly though

My grandpas saying on black cars, "black is the best color for a car when its someonelse's" very true I have a black car and its a fruitless effort on keeping it clean since its a daily, but somewhat manageable on a weekend car that never sees rain. It's the prettiest color on a straight clean car but that's only for like 5 min then its covered in dust.

Oh yes. I know this all too well. Luckily, both of my black cars have been Miatas, so there is very little real estate to sweat over.
I also use the paste wax. Put it on pretty thick, but thin near the seams. If it hardens of the edges of decals or panels with tight gaps, you will have a white residue there for a long time.

I agreed with myself to never buy a "dark" colored car. Mostly because i have 5 cats who seem to enjoy the buttwarming of a freshly driven car, or just using it as sleeping spot... Too hard to say no to her tho :(
(Oh yeah i still have pawmarks on the engine, oops.)

Fun tip o' the day: Apply wax in linear patterns, not swirls, even though that's what the package says to do. It just eliminates one more possible way to swirl the paint.

Yep Mass. I wasn't sure why people color out their plate number but I figured I would anyway.

At least your black vehicle is small. My black Tundra CrewMax takes weeks to wax. But it sure looks great that day that it's clean. A DA Polisher helps immensely cutting down on time spent detailing the paint.

I wanted to wait and probably should have but the wife was out with the kids and its so new it hurt to see it covered in salt.

I'd be afraid of starting the car one cold morning and hearing a meat grinder under the hood.

Got myself a DA polisher for taking care of my wife's FXT. I'll post pictures once it warms up and I get around to it

It was too nice out to NOT do it. I spent most if the day outside. I even raked the yard that wasn't covered in snow. I've got bad cabin fever and a dirty car isn't helping.

Luckily it's either too cramped in there, or they all know, cause it never happend to us. She normally just sits/sleep on it eitherway.
